DataNumen CAB Repair(DCABR) is a powerful tool to repair corrupt CAB files. It can scan the damaged CAB archives and recover as much of your data as possible, minimizing the loss caused by the file corruption.

Which types of CAB files can DataNumen CAB Repair be used with?

   
DataNumen CAB Repair(DCABR) supports all versions of Microsoft cabinet files. It supports to repair cabinet files compressed with MSZIP, LZX and Quantum methods.

The demo version doesn't generate a fixed file. How can I know whether it can repair my file successfully?

   

Although the demo version doesn't generate a fixed file, it can repair your file and show all the recoverable items in a report so you'll be sure that DCABR works on your file before ordering the full version. To do this, please just repair your file normally in the "Repair" tab. If it can be repaired successfully, you will see a message box after the reparation, where you can click the "Show Reparation Report" button and see the detailed reports containing all the recoverable items in your CAB file. Then you can order the full version of DCABR to get the actually fixed file.

I still cannot extract a CAB file after it is fixed by DCABR?

   

If CAB data are corrupted partially, different applications, such as DCABR and WinZip may possibly use slightly different algorithms to extract the corrupted data. So if items in a CAB file are partially corrupted, it is better to extract the fixed CAB file with DCABR again. To do this, please:

  Arrow Input your corrupted file name to 'Select CAB file to be repaired' edit box.

Input a filename with '.exe' extension to the 'Output fixed file as' edit box.

Click "Start Repair", DCABR will repair the corrupted CAB file and generate a new self-extracting CAB file for it.

Run the self-extracting CAB file and extract the files in it.

For example, you want to repair a file named MyFiles.cab, then if you specify the "Output fixed file as" with an '.exe' extension, for example, MyFiles_fixed.exe, DCABR will repair the CAB file and generate a self-extracting CAB file named MyFiles_fixed.exe. This self-extracting CAB file uses the same decompression engine as DCABR, so you can extract the partially corrupted items by executing it.

Why did DataNumen CAB Repair fail to repair my CAB file?

   

Contact our technical support: support@datanumen.com . If possible, please also save the repair log into a file (make sure the "Include System Information" option in the save file dialog is selected) and attach it to your e-mail.
