Because Microsoft Outlook cannot open offline folder(OST) file directly, when you need to access the data in OST file, you must convert it into a PST file which can be recognized by Outlook.
Some common situations when you need to convert OST to PST are:
- The Exchange mailbox associating with the OST file is unavailable for some reasons and the OST file is orphaned. You need to retrieve the data from it.
- The OST file is corrupt or damaged. You want to recover the data in it.
- You want to get some data that only exist in the local OST file.
