Using DataNumen DWG Recovery to Recover Damaged DWG Files

When your dwg files are damaged or corrupt and you cannot open them normally, you can use DataNumen DWG Recovery to scan the dwg files and recover as much data from them as possible.

Step 1 Start DataNumen DWG Recovery.
Note: Before recovering any damaged or corrupt dwg files with DataNumen DWG Recovery, please close any other applications that may modify the dwg files.
Step 2
Select the damaged or corrupt dwg file to be repaired:
Select MDB File to be Repaired

You can input the dwg filename directly or click the Browse for Source MDB File button to browse and select the file. You may also click the Find button to find the dwg file to be repaired on the local computer.

Step 3

If you know the format of the source damaged DWG file, then you can specify it:

Select MDB File to be Repaired

Or you can set it to "Auto Determined" so that DataNumen DWG Recovery will analyse and determine its format automatically, which is the default option.

Currently the following format are supported for source corrupt or damaged DWG files:

AutoCAD 2013-2014 DWG format

AutoCAD 2010-2012 DWG format

AutoCAD 2004-2006 DWG format

Step 4
By default, DataNumen DWG Recovery will save the fixed dwg file into a new file named xxxx_fixed.dwg, where xxxx is the name of the source dwg file. For example, for source dwg file Damaged.dwg, the default name for the fixed file will be Damaged_fixed.dwg. If you want to use another name, then please select or set it accordingly:
Select Fixed File Name

You can input the fixed file name directly or click the Browse for Destination MDB File button to browse and select the fixed file.

If the output fixed file has .DWG extension, then DataNumen DWG Recovery will output it in DWG format.

If the output fixed file has .DXF extension, then DataNumen DWG Recovery will output it in DXF format.

Step 5

You can specify the output fixed file format:

"Start Repair"

By default, if you do not specify the output file format, then DataNumen DWG Recovery will use the same format as the source corrupt or damaged DWG file.

Currently the following output format are supported:

AutoCAD R2.5 DWG format

AutoCAD R2.5 DXF format

AutoCAD R2.6 DWG format

AutoCAD R2.6 DXF format

AutoCAD R9 DWG format

AutoCAD R9 DXF format

After the repair process, if the source dwg file can be repaired successfully, you will see a message box like this:

Step 7 Now you can open the fixed dwg file with AutoCAD or dwg utilities.
Note:

The demo version will display the following message box to show the success of the recovery:

Demo Version Message Box

where you can click the "Show Recovery Report" button to see the previews of the contents in the active layout, main drawing, model space, page space and other blocks in the recovered dwg file, like this:
