Using DataNumen DBF Repair to Recover Damaged DBF Databases

When your dBase, FoxBase, FoxPro and Visual FoxPro databases(.dbf files) are damaged or corrupt and you cannot open them normally, you can use DataNumen DBF Repair to scan the dbf files and recover the data from the files as much as possible.

Step 1 Start DataNumen DBF Repair.
Note: Before recovering any damaged or corrupt dbf file with DataNumen DBF Repair, please close any other applications that may modify the dbf file.
Step 2
Select the damaged or corrupt dbf file to be repaired:
Select MDB File to be Repaired

You can input the dbf filename directly or click the Browse for Source MDB File button to browse and select the file. You may also click the Find button to find the dbf file to be repaired on the local computer.

Step 3

In combo box Select DBF Version, you may also select the version for the dbf file so that the fixed dbf file will be compatible with the specified version. Currently the following versions are supported:

dBASE III
dBASE IV
dBASE 5
FoxBase
FoxPro 2.0
FoxPro 2.5
FoxPro 2.6
Visual FoxPro

By default, the version is set to "Auto Detect" so that DataNumen DBF Repair will detect the version of the source dbf file and output the fixed one according to the detected version. However, if the output file cannot be opened successfully by your application, then you can specify the version to force DataNumen DBF Repair to generate a file that is compatible with your application.

Step 4
By default, DataNumen DBF Repair will save the fixed dbf database into a new file named xxxx_fixed.dbf, where xxxx is the name of the source dbf file. For example, for source dbf file Damaged.dbf, the default name for the fixed file will be Damaged_fixed.dbf. If you want to use another name, then please select or set it accordingly:
Select Fixed File Name

You can input the fixed file name directly or click the Browse for Destination MDB File button to browse and select the fixed file.

Step 5

Click the "Start Repair" button, and DataNumen DBF Repair will start scanning and repairing the source dbf file. Progress bar Process Bar will indicate the repair progress.

After the repair process, if the source dbf database can be repaired successfully, you will see a message box like this:

Message Box

Step 6 Now you can open the fixed dbf file with the corresponding applications.
Note:

The demo version will display the following message box to show the success of the recovery:

Demo Version Message Box

where you can click the "Show Recovery Report" button to see a detailed report of all the recoverable fields and records, like this:

Recovery Report

According to the report, you can know whether DataNumen DBF Repair can recover your dbf file. However, the demo version will not save the fixed dbf file. Please order the full version to get the file.
