Even though setting in the “A Date Occurring” window is very convenient, the options for the date may still not meet your need. For example, if you want Excel to remind you three days before the expiry date, you cannot find such an option in the list. Therefore, you can use a formula to highlight certain cells. In this example, we will add a new column with date in Column C to demonstrate the steps.

  1. Select the target range in the worksheet. In the worksheet, we will choose range C2: C17.
  2. And then click the button “Conditional Formatting” in the toolbar.
