A Serpent’s Curse

1. Act I

The sorting ceremony at Hogwarts brings unexpected magical surprises for Esmeralda as she is welcomed into Gryffindor House.

As the first-years gathered nervously in the Great Hall, the anticipation in the air was palpable. Esmeralda, a young witch with curly auburn hair and bright green eyes, felt her heart racing as she waited to be sorted into one of the four Hogwarts houses. The Sorting Hat, a tattered old hat with a mind of its own, began the sorting ceremony by singing a haunting melody. One by one, the students were called up to be sorted.

When Esmeralda’s turn came, she approached the stool and sat down, the Sorting Hat placed on her head. As it sifted through her thoughts and memories, Esmeralda’s mind raced with questions – where would she end up? Would she make new friends? Would she succeed in her magical studies?

After what felt like an eternity, the Sorting Hat shouted out, “Gryffindor!” Cheers erupted from the Gryffindor table as Esmeralda made her way over, a mixture of relief and excitement flooding through her. She had heard tales of the brave and courageous witches and wizards of Gryffindor, and now she was one of them.

As the feast began and the students settled into their new houses, Esmeralda couldn’t help but smile. She knew that her time at Hogwarts was just beginning, and she was eager to see what other magical surprises awaited her.
