Explanation: This error means DataNumen Outlook Repair cannot create the destination PST file, for a specific reason in file system level. And the reason is described more detailedly in xxxxxxx. For example, "Error 5: Cannot create destination file. F:\Test|Outlook_fixed.pst contains an invalid path." means the destination PST file cannot be created because its path is invalid(contains an invalid character '|').
Common Reasons and Solutions:
1.Reason: The destination PST file path is invalid.
Sample Error Message: Error 5: Cannot create destination file. F:\Test|Outlook_fixed.pst contains an invalid path.
Solution: In Windows system, a file name can cannot contain any of the following characters:
\ / : * ? " < > |
Therefore, if there are any invalid characters in the destination file path, correct it and then restart the recovery process again.
2.Reason: The destination PST file path does not exist.
Sample Error Message: Error 5: Cannot create destination file. F:\Test\Outlook_fixed.pst contains an invalid path.
Solution: This error is preceded by warning 4. In the messagebox of warning 4, select "Yes" button to let DataNumen Outlook Repair create the nonexistent directory for you automatically, then error 5 will not appear any more.
3.Reason: The destination PST file path is on a read-only disk and DataNumen Outlook Repair cannot write data into it.
Sample Error Message: Error 5: Cannot create destination file. Access to I:\Test\Outlook_fixed.pst was denied.
Solution: Please make sure the destination PST file path is on a writable disk. If the disk is a USB flash drive, then the write-protection of the drive must be disabled. If the disk is a CDROM or DVDROM, then you need to change the destination PST path to output to a writable hard disk drive.
4.Reason: You do not have the permissions to create or write data into the destination PST file.
Sample Error Message: Error 5: Cannot open the file to be repaired. Access to F:\Test\Outlook_fixed.pst was denied.
Solution: Please make sure you have the permissions to create or write data into the destination PST file to be repaired. If necessary, login as Administrator and then restart DataNumen Outlook Repair to repair the PST file.
5.Reason: A hardware I/O error occurs when trying to create the destination PST file.
Sample Error Message: Error 5: Cannot create destination file. A hardware I/O error was reported while accessing G:\Outlook_fixed.pst.
Solution: Please make sure the destination PST file path is on a disk without any hardware problems. We recommend you to output the destination PST file to a hard disk. If one of your hard disks has any problems, then we recommend you add an additional hard disk without any hardware errors to your system and output the PST file to the new added one.
6.Reason: There are not enough free disk spaces for outputting the destination PST file.
Sample Error Message: Error 5: Cannot create destination file. Disk full while accessing G:\Outlook_fixed.pst.
Solution: Please make sure there are enough free disk spaces on the destination drive. If necessary, output the destination PST file to another drive with enough free disk spaces.
