Advanced Options

Click "Options" tab in the dialog, then click "Advanced Options" subtab in the left side, you can set advanced options in repair process:

In "Recover Deleted Items" option group:

If "Recover Deleted Folders" option is selected, then DataNumen Outlook Drive Recovery will recover the deleted folders. This option is general enabled so that DODR can recover as much data as possible. However, if you do not want the deleted folders to be recovered, you can disable this option.

If "Recover Deleted Messages" option is selected, then DataNumen Outlook Drive Recovery will recover the deleted messages. This option is general enabled so that DODR can recover as much data as possible. However, if you do not want the deleted messages to be recovered, you can disable this option.

In "Advanced Recovery" option group:

"Use first advanced recovery method"

"Use second advanced recovery method"

"Use third advanced recovery method"

"Use fourth advanced recovery method"

"Use fifth advanced recovery method"

There are five advanced recovery methods. They will use some special algorithms to collect the lost & found items and recover them as Outlook messages and objects. Therefore, by selecting these five recovery methods, you may get additional recovered objects. However, this may cause some useless or empty objects being recovered, too. Also you may find that some fragments of the objects are recovered.

The remaining options in this page:

"Directory for temporary files"

DODR uses this directory to create temporary files. By default, this field is set to Windows temporary directory. If it is blank all temporary files and folders will be created in the current directory.

"Internal Processing Buffer Size"

You can set the size(in bytes) of the buffer used for internal processing. Valid buffer size ranges from 1 to 65536. And the default value is 512.

If the file to be repaired is located on a reliable media, such as a hard disk, then you can set buffer size to 65536 to obtain the maximum repair speed. However, in most cases, the performance of the default value 512 is similar to that of 65536.

If the file is located on a corrupted media, such as a damaged floppy disk, then by setting a smaller buffer size, you can force DODR to perform a more thorough scan and reparation. In an extreme case with buffer size equals to 1, DODR will perform the most thorough scan but this will reduce the speed dramatically and is only recommended for relatively small files(1MB to 10MB).

In a word, by increasing the buffer size, the repair speed is increased but the thoroughness will be decreased if your file is located on a corrupted media. And vice versa.

"Auto check and apply product updates"

If this option is enabled, then DODR will auto check if there are any new versions available when it is launched. If any, then it will upgrade the current version to the latest version automatically. This option is enabled by default.

"Language"

You can select the language of the GUI. By default, it is set to the language of your local computer. You can also set it to other languages.

Note: If you find DODR recovers too much unwanted items and want to eliminate them, you can do as follows:

1.Disable all options in both "Recover Deleted Items" and "Advanced Recovery" option groups.

2.Re-recover the original corrupt file with DataNumen Outlook Drive Recovery again.

3.After the recovery process, open the fixed file in Outlook. You will find most of the unwanted items are not recovered any more.
