Step 6: Select output folder and recovery options

In this page, you can select the output folder for the recovered files and folders. Moreover, you can set other recovery options here.

Output recovered files and folders to. Here you can input the folder which is used to output the recovered files and folders, or click "..." button to browse and select the output folder.

Open output folder when finished. If selected, then after the recovery process, the output folder will be opened automatically for you to browse. This option is selected by default.

Recover directory hierarchy recursively. If selected, then for a folder, we will not only recover it, but also recover all the files and sub folders under it recursively. And the directory hierarchy of all these recovered files and sub folders will be restored as well. This option is selected by default.

Auto rename files and folders when duplicate exists. When DDR try to output the recovered file or folder but find one with duplicated name already exists in the output folder, then if this option is selected, then DDR will rename the recovered file or folder automatically to make sure it will not conflict with the existing one. For example, if the recovered file name is MyFile.xls, but there is already a file named MyFile.xls in the output folder, then DDR will rename the recovered file MyFile.xls to MyFile(1).xls, if there is already a file named MyFile(1).xls in the output folder again, then DDR will rename the recovered file to MyFile(2).xls again, and so on, until the recovered file name will never conflict with any existing files in the output folder. If this option is not selected, then whenever a duplicate found, then DDR will popup a messagebox asking you whether you want to overwrite the existing file/folder with the duplicate name, you have the following options:

a.Select "Yes" button, in that case, DDR will only overwrite the current file/folder. The next time when a duplicate found, it will popup the messagebox again for your confirmation.

b.Select "Yes to All" button, in that case, DDR will not only overwrite the current file/folder, but also overwrite all the remaining files/folders automatically when duplicate is found, without popping up the confirmation messagebox anymore.

c.Select "Cancel" button, in that case, DDR will abort the recovery process immediately, just like you click the "Stop" button.

d.Select "No" button, in that case, DDR will skip the current file/folder without outputting anything. The next time when a duplicate found, it will popup the messagebox again for your confirmation.

e.Select "No to All" button, in that case, DDR will skip the current file/folder. Moreover, it will also skip all the remaining files/folders automatically when duplicate is found, without popping up the confirmation messagebox anymore.

Do not recover duplicate file when it has been recovered in folder recovery process. When "Recover directory hierarchy recursively" option is selected, and you want to recover some files and folders together, the folders will be recovered recursively. It is possible that the folders may already contain some of the files you want to recover. Therefore, to prevent DDR from output duplicate files, you can select this option. Otherwise, you may get duplicate files in the output directory. This option is selected by default.

After you finish setting the output folder and recovery options, please click "Next" button in the bottom-right corner of the dialog to go to the next step.

Note:

DDR will remember the options the last time you set.

If the output folder you set does not exist, then DDR will create it for you automatically.

You must not select an output folder on the same drive where the recovered files are located! Otherwise you will overwrite the data and lose the files forever!
