Step 5: Scan result

Scan Result:

In the center of this page, all the files that are found to be recoverable during the previous scan process are listed. If you enable "Scan for folders that are recoverable" in the scan options, then the folders that are recoverable are also listed.

In the list, each file is denoted by a file icon. And each folder is denoted by a folder icon. Moreover, the detailed information about each file or folder is displayed, as follows:

File Name: This is the name of the file or folder. DataNumen Data Recovery support unicode file or folder names.

Size: Size of the file. For folder, it is 0.

Location: Indicates which drive the file or folder is located in.

Recoverable Percent: For file, this value indicates percents of the file contents that can be recovered. For folder, this value indicates how many files and sub folders under this folder are recoverable.

File/Folder: Indicates whether the item is a file or a folder.

Creation Time: Indicates the time when the file or folder was created.

Last Access Time: Indicates the last time when the file or folder was accessed.

Last Write Time: Indicates the last time when the file or folder was modified.

In the list, you can select one or multiple files or folders you want to recover, then click "Next" button in the bottom-right corner of the dialog to go to the next step.

You may also filter or sort the list so that you can quickly find what you want and then make the selection. The filter and sort operation are described in detail below.

Filter the List:

Above the top-left corner of the list, there is a combo box with label "Filter". You can use it to filter the files and folders in the list.

There are several predefined filters in the combo box:

All files (*.*): All files and folders are listed.

Word documents (*.doc;*.docx): Only Microsoft Word document files are listed.

Excel files (*.xls;*.xlsx): Only Microsoft Excel spreadsheet files are listed.

Access databases (*.mdb;*.accdb): Only Microsoft Access database files are listed.

PDF documents (*.pdf): Only Adobe Acrobat PDF document files are listed.

Image files (*.bmp;*.jpg;*.gif;*.png;*.psd): Only image files, including Windows Bitmap images, JPEG images, GIF images, Portable Network Graphic images, and Photoshop PSD images, are listed.

Compressed files (*.zip;*.rar): Only compressed archive files, including Zip files and RAR files, are listed.

Of course, you may also input you own filter as well. The filter string can contain wildcard characters, including the asterisk (*) and question mark(?). The asterisk matches any sequence of characters, whereas the question mark matches any single character.

For example,

*file.bmp

will match all following files:

file.bmp

myfile.bmp

yourfile.bmp

hisfile.bmp

but will not match:

myfile1.bmp

myfile.bm2

myfile.bmp1

And

file?.bat

will match all following files:

file0.bat

file1.bat

file2.bat

but will not match:

file.bat

myfile.bat

If you have several filters and you want to list out the files match any of them, then you can input all these filters and delimit them with a semicolon.

For example,

*.bmp;*.jpg;*.gif

will include all following files in the list:

myfile.bmp

myfile.jpg

myfile.gif

The filter operation is performed real time whenever you change the text in the filter combo box.

Sort the List:

Above the top-right corner of the list, there is a combo box with label "Sort by". You can select one of the sort types to sort the files and folders in the list, as follows:

File Name: Sort the files and folders according to the file names and folder names.

File Type: Sort the files according to their extensions(types). For folders, as they have no extensions, they are not sorted.

Size: Sort the files according to their sizes. For folders, as their sizes are always zero, they are not sorted.

Location: Sort the files and folders according to which drive they are located in.

Recoverable Percent: All files are put in one group and all folders are put in another. Then for files in the file group, they are sorted based on the percents of the file contents that can be recovered. For folders in the folder group, they are sorted based on how many files and sub folders under the folders are recoverable.

File/Folder: After sort, all files are put in one group and all folders are put in another.

Creation Time: Sort the files and folders according to the time when the file or folder was created.

Last Access Time: Sort the files and folders according to the last time when the file or folder was accessed.

Last Write Time: Sort the files and folders according to the last time when the file or folder was modified.

Beside the "Sort by" combo box, there are two radio boxes which indicates the sort order, that is, whether the sorting is ascending or descending.

The sort operation is performed whenever you select one of the sort types in the combo box, or you change the sort order radio boxes.

List Statistic Information:

Below the bottom-right corner of the list, there is a statistic information about the list, as follows:

Total count: Indicate total count of files and folders in the current list. This is the count of the items after the filter operation.

Selected count: Indicate the total selected files and folders in the current list.

Note:

You can use Ctrl + left mouse button to select multiple files or folders. Or use Shift + left mouse button to select a range of files or folders.
