Error 6: Cannot create destination PST file. xxxxxxx. If you have Outlook 2000 or earlier versions installed, please make sure it is installed in the Corporate or Workgroup mode. For Outlook 2002 and later versions, please make sure Exchange Server components are not installed on the current computer. You may also refer to the faq in the help document for the detailed information.

Explanation:This error means DataNumen Exchange Recovery cannot create the destination PST file, for a specific reason in MAPI subsystem level. And the reason is described more detailedly in xxxxxxx. For example,

"Error 6: Cannot create destination PST file.

Cannot create a personal folder (PST) in a temporary profile. Unknown return value 0x80004005.

If you have Outlook 2000 or earlier versions installed, please make sure it is installed in the Corporate or Workgroup mode.

For Outlook 2002 and later versions, please make sure Exchange Server components are not installed on the current computer.

means the destination PST file cannot be created in a temporary profile.

 

Common Reasons and Solutions:

1.

Reason: The MAPI subsystem on your computer is not installed or configured correctly.

 

Sample Error Message: Error 6: Cannot create destination PST file.

Cannot create a personal folder (PST) in a temporary profile. Unknown return value 0x80004005.

If you have Outlook 2000 or earlier versions installed, please make sure it is installed in the Corporate or Workgroup mode.

For Outlook 2002 and later versions, please make sure Exchange Server components are not installed on the current computer.

Solution:

If you have Outlook 2000 or earlier versions installed, then please make sure it is installed in Corporate or Workgroup mode. If not, then please:

 

1.Start Outlook.

2.On the Tools menu, click Options.

3.On the Mail Delivery Tab, click Reconfigure Mail Support.

4.On the E-mail Service Options page, click to select the Corporate Workgroup option. Click Next.

5.Read the warning message and then click Yes. Outlook will close.

6.Restart Outlook. The Windows Installer will start and install the required files.

Then you can restart DataNumen Exchange Recovery and re-recover your OST file.

If you have Outlook 2002 or later versions installed, then please make sure Exchange Server components are not installed on the same computer. Please refer to Microsoft knowledgebase article at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/266418/en-us for more information.

Reason: Multiple instances of DataNumen Exchange Recovery are running simultaneously, with different recovery options.

 

Sample Error Message: Error 6: Cannot create destination PST file.

Cannot open the message store for further access. Unknown return value 0x80040111.

If you have Outlook 2000 or earlier versions installed, please make sure it is installed in the Corporate or Workgroup mode.

For Outlook 2002 and later versions, please make sure Exchange Server components are not installed on the current computer.

Solution: When multiple instances of DataNumen Exchange Recovery are running simultaneously with different recovery options, they may conflict with each other and cause the above problem. Therefore, the solution is do not run multiple instances of DataNumen Exchange Recovery simultaneously. If you want to recover multiple files, then please use the "Batch Recovery" feature instead.
