Options

Click "Options" tab in the dialog, you can set options in recovery process:

If "Split output PST file when it is larger than" option is selected, then you can specify a size limit of the output PST file in MB. During the recovery process, if the output PST file is larger than this limit, then a new split PST file will be created to accommodate the remaining recovered items. For example, if you enable this option and specify 1000MB as the size limit, then if the output pst file myfile_fixed.pst is larger than 1000MB when some recovered items have been saved into it, a split PST file called myfile_fixed_1.pst will be created to accommodate the remaining recovered items, and if myfile_fixed_1.pst reaches 1000MB again, a new split PST file called myfile_fixed_2.pst will be created, and so on.

Because Outlook 97-2000 PST file has a 2GB file size limit, you can use this option to prevent the output PST file from being too large. General recommended file size limit is 1000MB.

If "Recover unattached attachments" option is selected, then DataNumen Exchange Recovery will recover the data block that is not attached to a message as an attachment. This option is general enabled so that DEXR can recover as much data as possible.

If "Recover root folder heuristically" option is selected, then DataNumen Exchange Recovery will recover the root folder with a heuristic method. This option is general disabled unless DEXR cannot recover from the root folder correctly.

If "Fast scan and recovery" option is selected, then DataNumen Exchange Recovery will perform a fast scan on your OST file. In most cases, you can safely select this option. However, if DataNumen Exchange Recovery cannot recover the items you want and you want to try a more thorough scan on your OST file, then you can disable this option and restart a recovery on your file.

If "Ignore zero data chunks" option is selected, then DataNumen Exchange Recovery will ignore the zero data chunks. In most cases, you can safely select this option.

If "Always put recovered items under interpersonal message root folder" option is selected, then DataNumen Exchange Recovery will always put the recovered items under the interpersonal message(IPM) root folder so that they are visible to the customers. Usually you should enable this option.

If "Remove empty folders(folders that don't contain any messages, objects and subfolders)" option is selected, then DataNumen Exchange Recovery will remove all folders(except the system default folders) that don't contain any messages, objects and subfolders. If you find there are too many useless empty folders in the recovered PST file, then you can select this option and recover the source file again to eliminate the empty folders.

If "Recover multiple properties of an object in batch" option is selected, then DataNumen Exchange Recovery will recover multiple properties of an object in one time instead of in multiple times, thus to improve the performance of the recovery process. However, if the service provider does not follow the MAPI specification very well, then select this option will decrease the performance, instead of improving it. Therefore, for most of the cases, you should disable this option. Only when you are absolutely sure your service provider is 100% follow the MAPI specification, you can enable this option. This option is disabled by default.

"Fix "Can't move the items" error":

Sometimes in a fixed PST file, we can view all the folders and emails, but cannot move it to another PST file. In that case, you can enable this option and re-recover the OST file and get a new fixed PST file without this problem. This option is disabled by default.

Note:

DEXR will remember the options the last time you set.
