When you use scanpst to scan and repair your corrupt PST file, you can get following error message:
An unknown error prevented access to the file. Error 0x80070570: The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.
Your hard disk has some bad sectors so when scanpst tries to read data from the corrupt PST file located on the bad sectors, it will return the above error message.
To solve the problem, you'd better to create a disk image of the failed hard disk with software such as Macrium Reflect Free at http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.asp, then use DataNumen Outlook Repair to recover your Outlook data from the disk image file directly, or check the disk and fix possible errors and then use scanpst to repair the file again, or repair the PST file on the erroneous hard disk, as follows:
- Select the PST file on the erroneous hard disk as the source file to be repaired.
- Mount an external USB drive on the computer and set the output fixed file to the external USB drive instead of the original hard disk.
- Click "Start Repair" to perform the recovery process.
