If you have made multiple changes to Outlook ribbon and Quick Access Toolbar, it is advisable to make backups for these customizations. In this case, you can shift between computers with utmost ease and needn’t fear to lose them.

Outlook allows us to export the Ribbon and Quick Access Toolbar directly by means of “export” button. But apart from it, another method is more recommended. Now read on to get deeper acquaintance with them.

Import & Export All Outlook Ribbon & QAT Settings

If you have few changes to Outlook ribbons and Quick Access Toolbar, you could utilize “export” button.

  1. At the beginning, go to “File” menu and select “Options”
  2. In the window of “Outlook Options”, turn to “Customize Ribbon” section.
  3. Then you can see “Import/Export” button at the bottom right corner in the right pane. Click it and select “export all customizations” from the drop down list.Export Ribbon Customizations
  4. In the new popup window, you should save the Office UI file to local. You can use the default folder or browse to your desired location.
  5. After that, on another computer, launch Outlook and head to “Customize Ribbon” tab. Click “Import/Export” > “Import customization file” to import the saved UI file.

Like ribbon, you can use “Import/Export” feature under “Quick Access Toolbar” tab in “Outlook Options” to backup QAT settings.

However, “export” button can only backup the customizations of the current item window. If you have made multiple changes to multiple windows, exporting them one by one will be an arduous task. In this case, another rapid method is to find the original settings file and backup them thoroughly.

Backup Outlook Ribbon & QAT Settings Files

All Outlook ribbon and quick access toolbar settings are stored in Office UI files automatically. In other words, to backup the files just means archiving the settings. You can open your Windows Explorer and copy the following directory to the address bar – “C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office”. Press “Enter” to access to the folder destination.Access to the Directory

In this folder, all the Office UI files are the target settings file. You can select all and right click to copy them totally. Eventually just copy them to the same directory on another computer. Outlook will remove the commands that are unsuitable for that computer automatically.Office UI Files
