When a cache is full and a new item needs to be added, the LFU approach will identify the least frequently accessed item in the cache and replace it with the new item. By removing the least used data, the cache can make room for new information that is more likely to be accessed in the future.

LFU is particularly useful in scenarios where there is limited space in the cache and it is crucial to prioritize the data that is accessed most frequently.
