Find the dbx file corresponding to an Outlook Express mail folder
 

There are three methods to find the dbx file corresponding to an Outlook Express mail folder, as follows:

Method 1: All of your Outlook Express 5/6 mail folders and messages, and all of your subscribed newsgroups and messages are stored in one folder, called the Store Folder, which can be determined by selecting Tools| Options| Maintenance| Store Folder in Outlook Express:

Therefore, to find the dbx file of an Outlook Express mail folder, please go to the Store Folder in Windows Explorer and find the dbx file with the same name as the mail folder. For example, the Inbox.dbx file contains messages that are displayed in the Inbox mail folder in Outlook Express, the Outbox.dbx file contains messages that are displayed in the Outbox mail folder, and so on.

Note: In general, Outlook Express will use different Store Folder s for different users on one computer.

Method 2:
You can also get the full path of the dbx file corresponding to an Outlook Express mail folder by right-clicking that mail folder in Outlook Express and then clicking Properties :

Method 3: In addition, you can use Windows Explorer's Search function to find the .dbx files, as follows:
1 Click Start menu
2 Click Search menu item and then For Files and Folders :

3 Input *.dbx as the search criterion and select the locations to be searched.
4 Click Search Now to find all .dbx files on the specified locations.
5 In Search Results, you can get the required dbx files.
